Eating out doesn’t have to be a bank-breaking occasion, with many restaurants and cafes in Skipton offering delicious dishes for under £10, money-conscious people are spoilt for choice. So whether you’re looking for a light lunch, or something more substantial, here is a selection of our favourite eateries, which will leave your appetite and wallet satisfied!
Brody’s Yorkshire Pizzeria
Brody’s Pizza & Grill is by no means a budget eatery, however, if you take advantage of their Early Bird Menu, you can enjoy a main course for just £8.95. Included in the offer is any Pizza or Pasta dish, which they have become well known for across town. We recommend the Chorizo Piccante, which is Spicy Chorizo, Mushrooms and Jalepenos, although if you’re not a fan of spice they have an array other dishes to choose from!
“Yes, loads of places make pizzas but Brody’s is a bit special. For a start, the bases are extremely thin and crispy. This means that the topping is given its correct (i.e. top) billing and you are not overwhelmed by stodge.
The taste is sublime, the service is friendly and prompt and the feel is warm. We went for the early bird menu but didn’t feel as though we were given ‘early bird’ service.
Brody’s is somewhat hidden away, being on the upper level of Sheep Street but don’t let that fool you: this is a gem.” – TripAdvisor – 5 Stars.
“Lovely place to eat and healthy too, everything cooked in fry light so great if u on Slimming World, or any lifestyle choice, we have a lovely breakfast complete with eggy bread, delicious, would recommend it too anyone, also had a piece of lemon sponge cake” – Facebook – 5 Stars
Keelham Farm Shop Restaurant
A staff favourite, Keelham Farm Shop has quickly become something of a Skipton institution, with a passion for local produce, their alternative supermarket attracts customers from far and wide. Fittingly, their restaurant, which sits inside the supermarket, also has this passion for local produce, and what’s more, many of the dishes on the menu are less than £10! Their Sandwiches start at £5.95, including the likes of Yorkshire Roast Beef and Caramelized Onions. You can also find their delightful Wild Mushroom Risotto at £9.95.
“A fantastic brunch with all tastes and variations well catered for. Service was efficient and friendly, and they coped well considering how busy it was. The pancakes were amazing – light and fluffy and they didn’t stint on the portions. Great to sit near the kitchen area and watch the chefs producing plate after plate of food. Was absolutely stuffed, and then enjoyed some shopping to top it all off.” – TripAdvisor – 5 Stars
The Castle Inn
The Castle Inn is in a prime location, which attracts many a tourist who visits the nearby Skipton Castle, and in terms of food, they never disappoint! They’ve become well known across Yorkshire for their unique Vegan Menu, which offers a variety of tasty foods. On the menu, you’ll find a number of dishes which are under £10, including their delicious Yorkshire Wrap, which is essentially a roast dinner, wrapped in a Yorkshire Pudding at £9.95. Other options include their Wholetail Whitby Scampi and various small plates, perfect for a quick bite to eat.
“Visited the castle inn for the first time today- it definitely won’t be the last time either. The vegan mean was amazing- it was so hard to choose which one to have!!! At most places you usually have the one option for vegan/veggie, here you have a full mean. I had the to fish and chip- it was delicious. Will be back soon (the 40-minute journey is definitely worth it)” – Facebook – 5 Stars

The Cock and Bottle
The Cock and Bottle on Skipton’s Swadford Street is a popular traditional pub serving excellent homemade food. Expect beamed ceilings, a well-stocked bar and a large beer garden out the back for al fresco dining on warmer days. You’ll find all the traditional pub classics on the menu at The Cock and Bottle as well as a few tasty surprises. Their lunchtime options are particularly popular with a range of generously topped flatbreads, freshly made sandwiches and super delicious ciabatta melts on offer. You can easily get a decent sized lunch and a cold drink for under a tenner and the food never disappoints.
“Had light lunch here Thursday 18th. Both real ale and cheese/pickle sandwich/chips were excellent. Service also both friendly and efficient. They have an extensive menu at really great prices. No doubt I shall return for an evening meal. Absolutely superb pub.”
